Obey traffic rules such as speed limits.
Expect other drivers to do something stupid.
Don’t drive too fast on gravel roads.
Make sure you have water with you in remote areas.
Beware of domestic livestock on unfenced roads (especially in Namibia).
Don’t drive after dark – you won’t see people or animals on the road until it’s too late.
Check your tires regularly – it’s often a long way between garages.
Keep your fuel tank topped up when in remote places.
Take it easy and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
