Travel tips:
- Obey traffic rules such as speed limits.
- Expect other drivers to do something stupid.
- Don’t drive too fast on gravel roads.
- Make sure you have water with you in remote areas.
- Beware of domestic livestock on unfenced roads (especially in Namibia).
- Don’t drive after dark – you won’t see people or animals on the road until it’s too late.
- Check your tires regularly – it’s often a long way between garages.
- Keep your fuel tank topped up when in remote places.
- Take it easy and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
