Day 1

Cape of Good Hope & Peninsula, Penguins, Boat Cruise & Groot Constantia

This region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, named for its exceptional floral diversity. Follow the West Coast via Clifton with a stop at Maiden’s Cove to enjoy a magnificent view of the Twelve Apostles & Camps Bay. Then continue to Hout Bay, a charming town, where you board the Circe to Duiker Island, home to the world’s largest fur seal colony. The scenic Chapman’s Peak mountain pass offers breathtaking views.

The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve is where the ice-cold Atlantic meets the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. This famous landmark was named by the early Portuguese mariners, who rounded the Cape in the 1400s. Enjoy lunch overlooking the old harbor of the historical naval port of Simon’s Town. After lunch, visit the well-known Boulders Beach, home to Africa’s largest land-based penguin colony.

You can finish your day with a visit to Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest wine estate & the Manor House built by the first Governor of the Cape in 1686.

Surrounded by tall mountains, it is known for its beautiful architecture, renowned wines & famous university. Visit an old-time SA shop & go on a guided wine cellar tour before traveling over the beautiful Helshoogte Pass en route to Franschoek, named after the French Huguenots who settled there in the 1600s. Visit the Huguenot Museum. At a boutique wine farm, taste local vintages, including a Pinotage which is South Africa’s own unique cultivar. Outside Paarl, see the Mandela statue at the entrance to the prison where he was incarcerated.

Paarl means “Pearl” in Dutch, and refers to the imposing granite mountains surrounding the town. The Taal Monument, dedicated to the Afrikaans language, is the world’s only monument to a language. Another highlight is a visit to the cheetah outreach program.

Affectionately referred to as the “river of life”, the Zambezi River is the 3rd longest in Africa, & runs through 6 countries before entering the Indian Ocean. The river evokes mystery and excitement with few rivers in the world remaining as pristine or little explored. I have seen leopard & lion on the river banks, Africa never ceases to amaze!

After a hearty lunch on the banks of the Chobe River, embark on a safari river cruise & experience nature at its best, the river, animals & sunset! Here you’ll get up close and personal with hippo, crocodile & a mind-boggling array of waterbirds. You can see big herds of elephant & buffalo as they converge along the river waterfront.

Guided Tour of Victoria Falls & Optional Afternoon Activities

Taking its place alongside the pyramids and Serengeti, Victoria Falls is one of Africa’s original blockbusters. After an early breakfast, depart for your tour of Victoria Falls, guided by a park ranger. Named by the explorer David Livingstone after Queen Victoria in 1855, who said: “It must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”. For millennia it has been known by Africans as Mosi-oa-Tunya “the smoke that thunders”. Ask your guide to point out Devil’s Pool on the edge of the falls, Zambian side. There could be adrenaline junkies swimming to the precarious edge of the falls. The Vic Falls is a 7th Wonder of the World, one of the greatest natural sights anybody will ever see. Viewing spots have been maintained in their natural state. Please be careful.

We will offer you our discounted rates on activities like a helicopter ride or micro lighting over the falls, river rafting, bungee jumping, township tour, Devil’s Pool & nocturnal safaris inside the Victoria Falls Park.
