This 3 day tour private tour is packed with adventure and excursions, visiting the most beautiful unspoiled coastline in the Cape, renowned for whale watching, shark cage diving, botanical gardens, penguin colonies, Big 5 safari, Ostrich farm, Cango Caves, a semi- desert which holds the remains of ancient civilizations. This guided tour includes ALL entrance fees, breakfasts, a dinner, 3 and 4 star accommodation. For those visiting the Cape with little time to travel SA, this is the one 4u!

Day 1 – Tour of the Southern Cape, Penguins & Whales

We leave Cape Town and head for the spectacular Clarence Drive on our way to Betty’s bay where we visit Africa’s largest penguin colony.

Next is the charming town of Hermanus known for the world’s best land based whale watching spot between the months June to December.

Lunch – take away sandwiches is an option as there is a lot to do today.

Our journey continues along the Southern Cape Coast with a stop in Elim, a 19th century Moravian Missionary village and here we find quaint cottages with thatched roofs.

We continue to the coastal village of Arniston where we have time to relax, swim in the warm Indian ocean or take a walk to the Waenhuiskrans, an Afrikaans name meaning literally “Wagon house cliff”, after a local sea cave large enough to accommodate a wagon and a span of oxen. The cave is accessible at low tide.

Dinner is a delicious barbecue dinner or authentic South African cuisine.

Day 2 – Big 5 Safari & Cape Agulhas

We continue to Cape Agulhas (full English breakfast here) the southernmost point of the continent where the two oceans meet. Renowned for its ancient Khoisan fish traps and quaint white washed fisherman cottages where each morning the local fisherman set out early to fish with hand line or trek-nets just as their forefathers have done. Time permitting we visit the Dias museum in Mossel bay and then visit an ancient Khoisan midden/cave where we can have lunch on the beach.

We then make our way to Botlierskop, a world renowned private game reserve for our 3 hour safari drive lead by a trained safari guide where you encounter the Big 5.

After the safari we continue to the town of Oudtshoorn (via the Robertsons pass), which is the capital of the Little Karoo, renowned for its spectacular arid landscapes, fossil finds, succulent desert plants and of course as the Ostrich Capital of the world as well as home to one of the world’s most spectacular cave systems.

Day 3 – Oudshoorn, Cango Caves and the Safari Ostrich farm

After breakfast we visit the Cango Caves; said to be the most beautiful in the world where a succession of galleries, finest dripstone caverns and extraordinary limestone formations can be admired.

The Cango Caves are located in Precambrian limestone at the foothills of the Swartberg range near the town of Oudtshoorn,

A visit to the world’s oldest working Ostrich farm for a tour and an opportunity to ride on one of these strange birds.

Here you have the opportunity to taste the world’s finest Ostrich steak.

We continue to Montagu along the famous Route 62 with picturesque villages and local handicraft.

Following the Breede River valley wine route we pass the towns of Robertson and Worcester.

Driving through the Huguenot tunnel, Africa’s largest, gives us an insight to the to the huge obstacle for the first pioneers leaving the Cape for the interior.

Passing through Paarl which takes its name from the granite domes and situated in the Berg River Valley, founded by the French Huguenots.
