10-Day Victoria Fall, Cape Town, Chobe (Botswana) & Kruger

In just 10 days this tour will take you to the World’s Favorite City (Trip Advisor). Cape Town and it’s surrounds have so much to offer, truly a must on anybody’s list, my home town! You then fly to Johannesburg to start your 3 day Safari of the iconic Kruger National park, renowned for it’s incredible diversity and home to the big 5. The famous Chobe in Botswana, home to the worlds largest elephant population. Victoria Falls, the worlds greatest waterfall situated on the mighty Zambezi river.

Day 1 – Johannesburg – Kruger National Park

We depart Johannesburg for the Kruger in the early morning travelling through the wide open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. We stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park in the afternoon.

After settling in to our accommodations, you go out on your first game drive which is a SANParks sunset drive. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night and the Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that these drives take place in one of the Kruger Park’s vehicles with a Park’s ranger.

This is not a private game drive and there may be other guests on this drive.

Dinner is a three course meal, served al fresco at camp. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional / alternative drinks which can be purchased at the shop.

Day 2 – Kruger / Blyde River Canyon

On this day, you have an option to either stay in the park and do a 3/4 hour early morning game drive (and an optional extra game drive if there’s availability) and/or relax in the park. Or experience the exquisite Panorama Route and explore the beautiful Blyde River Canyon. You visit select attractions along the way such as the ancient geological wonder of the Three Rondavels, the dramatic Lisbon Waterfalls and absorb the spectacular views from God’s Window, stopping in one of the small towns en-route for lunch (excluded).

We depart Pretoriuskop at around 8:15 and return between 17h00 and 18h00.

Day 3 – Kruger Park – Johannesburg

The sun rises over our final day in the Park and we head out on our last game drive to find the animals that have eluded us thus far. We have breakfast and head back to Johannesburg where in the evening, you will fly to beautiful Cape Town to stay at a guest house in the heart of the Mother City!

Day 4 – The Cape Winelands, Stellenbosch and Franschoek

We drive to Stellenbosch, a fertile area where oak trees, wheat and vines quickly replaced the giraffes, elephants, Hottentot and Khoisan peoples and is known for its beautiful varied architecture, renowned wines and university where the language of instruction is still mainly Afrikaans.

We visit a museum, historical shop and partake in a cellar tour before travelling over the beautiful Hels Hoogte Pass to Franschoek.

Lunch and a visit to the Huguenot Museum.

At an exceptional boutique wine farm we taste the local vintage including a pinotage, South Africa’s own unique cultivar. In Paarl, we stop in front of Mandela’s statue at the entrance to the prison from which he was liberated in 1990.

In the late afternoon, we head to the west coast to Blouberg where we enjoy a “postcard” view of Table Mountain, Robben Island and Table Bay. Weather permitting, we take the cable car (optional) to the mountain summit and watch the sun set.

We end the day with dinner at the “V & A Waterfront”.

Day 5 – The Cape of Good Hope and Peninsula

This region is a World Heritage site for its floral diversity. We follow the West coast with a stop at Maiden’s Cove to enjoy a magnificent view of the Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay. We will continue along to Hout Bay, a charming little town where we enjoy a cruise to Duiker Island, home to the world’s largest fur seal colony. The scenic Chapman’s Pass offers breathtaking scenery. Next we will be visiting the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve which is where the cold Atlantic meet the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. This famous landmark was named by the early Portuguese mariners. Journeying down to the False Bay coast we lunch at the historical naval port of Simon’s Town. After lunch we visit Boulder’s beach, home to Africa’s largest penguin colony. We finish our day with a visit to Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest Cape Dutch manor house.

Tonight an authentic African dinner of many culinary dishes from across the continent, accompanied by dance, music and theater. (included).

Day 6 – Cape Town & Surrounds

Our day starts with a visit of Cape Town’s historical places, parks, Dutch East Indian Garden, Castle, South African Museum, Malay quarter, District 6 and Green market square. Before noon we take the opportunity to visit the noon gun in action on the slopes of Signal Hill. It is the world’s oldest canon still in action.

We visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, the only botanical garden situated in a world heritage site which has more endemic plant species than any other in the world.

In the evening, you fly to Johannesburg for your connecting flight to Victoria Falls the following day.

Day 7 – Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Departure for our flight to Victoria Falls.

Upon arrival we will be taken to your lodge situated near the falls, time to relax and enjoy lunch while observing wildlife, before departing on your late afternoon sunset cruise of the mighty Zambezi river. (included)

In the evening, you relax at the hotel restaurant with a wrap around deck metres away from the Zambezi River and enjoy
the magnificent views.

Day 8 – Victoria Falls

Included is a guided tour of the falls. Get ready for an amazing experience with nature!

Important: Wear a waterproof jacket and protection

Here awaits an unforgettable view of one of the most spectacular sites in the world located on the Zambezi River, between the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe known as Mosi-oa-Tunya “the smoke that thunders” ( in Shona ) – It is an UNESCO World Heritage site.

The rest of the day is free to visit the town and its local craft market, cruise on the Zambezi River, or enjoy a helicopter flight over the falls, known as “the flight of angels”.

Day 9 – Chobe National Park (Botswana)

Early this morning you cross the border into Botswana and continue to Chobe National Park. (1hour transfer)

You spend the day on a 4×4 safari with a professional ranger in one of Africa’s iconic parks. The park is world famous for its huge herd of elephants, buffalo, wild dog and big cats unmatched anywhere else in the world. In the afternoon, you partake in a river cruise or a boating safari and experience nature at its best – the river, the animals and the sunset!

Here you’ll get up close and personal with hippo, crocodile and a mind-boggling array of water birds. You can see massive herds of Elephant and Buffalo as they converge along the waterfront.

In the late afternoon you return to Victoria falls.
